SUMMER ZINE-ALOGUE
Rob Cordiner of Melbourne’s Parts & Crafts Auto Zine asked us to create a spread for their Riso-printed Summer Zine-alogue——a catalogue of current stock and the creative partners they work with.
Dave used free, and pretty corny, fonts found online to typographically illustrate lyrics suggestive of the golden era of hip hop—specifically 1988.
PROJECT: Print spread
CLIENT: Parts & Crafts Auto Zine
SAME SHIT, DIFFERENT DAY
This tiny zine features absent-minded sketches and drawings taken from the scraps of paper laying around Dave’s work desk and the apartment.
Like a form of meditation, an iteration of each of these doodles could have been drawn countless times. Sticking to no particular style, the one common element is the black Uni-ball Eye they were drawn with.
Same shit, different day.

THE LIES MEN TELL
Apparently there’s a place——a faraway island——where a tiny, cute monkey mans the ticket booth. He takes your money, then dons a riding cap and crop. Then he hops on a pony and races the day away. All for your racing pleasure. Apparently.
Steph’s zine contains imagined snapshots of a zoo where, we were told, monkeys raced on ponies.

MEGADIK
My spam volume is enormous but my inbox is tiny.
Dave had been receiving polymorphic spam for penis enlargement product Mega Dik for some 2-3 months and now his junk-mail folder is much bigger than “average” size. Over the months, the spam-filter-avoiding iterations became more and more ridiculous. Now let’s all whizgiggle at them.

CUCKOO——HAIKU for SEASONS.
Cuckoo was the first one-shot style zine Dave produced and was a great seasonal project he and two other Grace Emily regulars, Marky and The Doc created. After discovering they all wrote haiku, Cuckoo——Haiku for Winter was born. The following two titles: Spring and Summer were submissions-based with the three friends now editing, as well as contributing content.
The zines were hand-stamped in editions of 250 and given away free at the pub.

LET ME TELL YA MUTHAFUCKAZ WHO YA FUCKIN’ WITH...
